Ronier Golightly

Creator of Motor City Popcorn

In 2012, Ronier Golightly created Motor City Popcorn to bring gourmet popcorn to metro Detroit. Originally appearing at pop-up events, Golightly launched a retail location inside Detroit’s Cobo Center. In 2014, Motor City Popcorn received a microloan from LaunchDETROIT to help purchase inventory needed to handle the volume of customers in Cobo Center.

As Cobo Center redeveloped, Motor City Popcorn relocated and focused on wholesale distribution. Products can now be found at Detroit Metro Airport, Germack Pistachios in Eastern Market, Holiday Market in Royal Oak and other locations to be announced. Popular flavors include Motor City Mix, Belle Isle Blend, 8 Mile Mix and more with over 14 flavors available for retail stores. In early 2019, Motor City Popcorn will open a retail location inside Laurel Park Mall in Livonia, Michigan.
